Well, only one word needed really. Incredible. Basically, everything you've read in the magazines about these shoes is right. They are utterly amazing.

For my first proper ride with them, I went over to Cannock Chase and rode some nice DH trails. They're the kind that are easy at low speed, but become altogether trickier on a hardtail at speed. However, I was able to pedal where I didn't think that pedalling was possible. My feet felt like they were glued to the pedals.

The low-top version

In a couple of months of testing, my feet have come off the pedals once. That was when I was riding an unfamiliar bike with a Rapid Rise mech, and shifted down instead of up (whoops!). Other than that, totally flawless.

The fit is slightly tight. This is good for riding, as it means that your feet won't slip around inside the shoes, but it does mean that trying before you buy is pretty much essential. I was lucky in that they fitted me perfectly, but you may not be.

Where it all happens - the Stealth S1 sole

I have found myself able to go much, much faster down any course I try. The only downside is the price, they're slighty expensive at £60 for the low tops and £65 for the high tops. However, this is still cheaper than what you would pay for SPD pedals and shoes, with comparitive grip on the pedals.

For further proof, just look at the results for the seventh round of the World Cup. Sam Hill wins by seven seconds... Wearing Five Ten Impacts. Enough said, I think.
