Dakine Cross-X

Dakine are a company who seemingly can do no wrong. They make top quality bags for snowboarding, biking, surfing or whichever freesport it is you're interested in.
As well as this they make pretty pimp jerseys, clothing and gloves. We're going to focus on the latter for this review, in particular the Dakine Cross-X gloves.

Whats in a pair of gloves? Follows the contours of your paws, offers a bit of cushion, stops your hands rubbing raw and generally feel nice. Oh and nothing too expensive either. Well the Cross-X's tick every single box.

Dakine have a long standing reputation for producing products their customers want, and listening to the buyers when changes are requested. Starting out in 1979 as a small time leash manufacturer for surfers, Rob Kaplan continued to expand the business, to what you see today. Believe it or not the first range was only 3 gloves, nowadays they produce nearly 70 different types for boardsports and bikes. They're widely known as the best bag maker in the industry, from top notch snowboard bags to bike bags that'll protect your rig in most situations.

The Cross-X's are a middle of the road glove, nothing like TLD's Air gloves with a single layer of material between you and the bars, and a mile from Brooklyns EnglishNiks which'll convince you that it really is possible to punch through a brick wall.

Theres just enough padding to feel comfortable but not too much to feel like you're RoboCop on a bike, the palm padding is in just the right places so that you can move freely but the protection is covering the essential areas.
There are also moulded knuckle and finger protection pieces to absorb any impact from trees and other such things you may come to encounter... The fingertips have silicone patches so that they will grip your metal brake levers that little bit better, I was sceptical about how much difference they'd make but it is very noticeable once you've used them once.

The glove somehow just fits that little bit better than the competition, I know Cam McRae from NSMB will agree, as this has been his favourite glove for a while now!
Even better are the lime green and tango orange colourways that I will be sporting as soon as I get my hands on a pair! Coming in at around £25 they're well priced for what they are, and compared to other gloves i've tried you cant beat them. Definately a favourite.
