661 Comp Gloves & Full Comp lid

After recently thrashing my Fox Solo's I bought a pair of these 661 04 Comps. The Comp's are 661's 'budget' glove if you like, they have all the standard padding needed on a jump glove and have a standard fit. The Comp's have ample padding to protect your mitts in all but the most extreme bails which is definitly a neccessity for most riders and the large rubber pad over the back of your hand is a nice touch to see at this price range, something many other glove ranges leave out until you rech the higher end of the market. All first appearances of the glove are good, the protection is high and the design and quality is good. However the gloves fit isn't the best, to me they feel as if the are pulling to one side and are never 100% comfortable. Also the fastening strap doesnt seem to be very well thought out, firstly its underneath the wrist which I never like because it has a tendancy to undo when caught on various things. Also the strap does not do up tightly because of its lack of stretchyness, although this may just be for me because of the size of my wrists. This said the gloves are only £20 and for this sort of money you can't complain. If your looking for a good quality glove that will suit light duty riding the 04 Comp's are for you.

I got the Full Comp as an impulse buy while at the Bike show a while back because I thought it was a cheap show price. How wrong, the Full Comps normal retail is around £70 and this puts it in reach of most riders budgets. I'd never used a full facer before but felt instantly comfortable in the Full Comp, it's not too heavy, doesn't restrict your vision and gives you that unbeatable feeling of safety. On the more poserish side of things I think it looks sweet, doesn't shout out "look at me" but has some nice stealthy graphics (on the black and grey models) The only minor niggle I have with the Full Comp is the fastening buckle rather than clip, but that really is only a minor niggle. Overall I am entirely satisfied with this, it's taken some hard hits and is still looking fly. The Full Comp wont hurt your wallet, will keep your bonce safe and will make you wonder how other higher priced models could get any better.
