Midlands Champs & MSS Round 6
Eastridge
James - 1st August 2004
Back to racing archive

The sun was shining down hard, it was warm and the course was dry. It was going to be a great day of racing!
Over 100 riders turned up in Pontesbury to ride the Eastridge course for the Midlands Champs..

The course began right up the top of the hill, straight out off the start you're faced with a fast, twisty and rocky route through the trees, then its out of the saddle to sprint into the dry heavily wooded section, once again twisting between the trees, then you're thrown straight off a 4/5ft stepdown and then round a loose rocky corner and back out of the seat again! Cross the fireroad into a quick drop which goes straight into a wide corner and then race through the rooty section, some very tight corners between trees and round the berm into the finish field, then you're dropped straight off the step down, some very hefty stacks here, but fortunately all but one got straight up and rode away on the final race runs. Round the long grassy corners and across the finish line. The best times on this course were sub 1:40 but there werent many slow riders on the last section!
The course was very pedally, but fun and less challenging than previous rounds.
