Pearce Cycles 2008 series: Round Three
Bringewood, Nr Ludlow. Shropshire.

Isn't summer a wonderful thing, finally I've managed to attend a Pearce Cycles event this year without having to don waterproofs and duck the roost kicked up as riders go past.

After a lot of foresting at Bringewood the middle section of most tracks has had a haircut, completely changing the look and unfortunately losing some tracks forever. Fortunately for this round Dave Pearce and co managed to get the traversing open section rideable, as well as sticking in a selection of new jumps (all of which had to be ridden, unlike the last round). Taking it through the woods into the usual big tabletop and turning right at the last fireroad into the super tight twisty section Bringewood is famous for.

Thanks to the dry conditions the track was grippy, it wasnt quite dry enough for dust so final times were faster than we've been used to in recent months, Ancilloti's Tom Deacon took the win in Elite with a 2.29 and the fastest time overall, with CRC's Dan Critchlow 5 seconds behind in 2nd and Astrix's Ben Baker in third.
Darrell Upton and Emyr Davies were also up there, with times that would place them 2nd and 4th on the Elite podium. Fast boys look out, the young guns are on the way. With the Lisbon Downtown and the preperation for the World Cup in Andorra many pro's were off in sunnier climes, so this was a true regional event with all the local boys turning up to set times.

As is ever becoming the norm for the Midlands series there was a strong female presence on the hill, Yeti's Emily Horridge taking first ahead of Mojo's Aimee Dix in Elite. Emma Wareham in Seniors took first ahead of Sue Mahony, only 21 seconds behind Emily in Elite. Jessica Stone in Juniors is also rapidly becoming a name to watch, with a 3.24. Lee Hutchinson (DMR) put together an incredible race in Hardtail with 2.46, only 17 seconds off the pace of the top boys on big suspension rigs. Showing pretty clearly that with the right specced hardtail its easy to put together a fast time.

Once again another brilliantly organised race by Pearce and co, the next round is at Bala on the weekend of 14-15th July, should be a good race at an awesome track.. remember kids Bala is PRIVATE. Do not try to practise there outside of events or the owner might mistake you for a pheasant!
