NPS Caersws Final Round

Caersws was the venue for the final round of the National Points Series, and what a track!
As usual the course began right at the top, through the jumps, some unsure faces about what the best line was through the moguls and some nasty crashes were seen there too.
You then had a choice of 3 lines into the woods, most riders picking the wider line and then it’s a twisty descent to the first big jump, dropping down to uplift-road height then along the side of the road, and down into the woods again. You were then blinded as you came into the sun, rail the quick berm and then faced with a choice of a steep roll up or to try your luck on the step up, when I was watching this someone came very close to stacking, landing almost horizontal but riding it out! Good work...
Then back into the woods, then over the road jump and into the long berm, over the jump and down the very steep and rooty trek to the drop into the finish field. Some really nasty crashes here, the wind coming across and blowing your wheels from underneath you, some hit the deck screaming, others just went straight over the top of the berm...
They were still using the setup of one huge jump, or two smaller ones, luckily not too many huge crashes here like the Dragon round. Someone did manage to miss the barbed wire fence by a few inches though.
Quick couple of long corners and a sprint to the finish.
Uplifts ran pretty smoothly, and as far as I know there were no problems with the timing, actually using cables this time, none of this mast rubbish!
This race was well and truly dominated by the Atherton’s, with Dan & Gee getting 2nd and 1st respectively, and Rachel chalking up yet another win to the already long list. Well with it being the final round of the series there’s two sets of podiums so let’s get on with the results...
