There's a few companies around that seek quality. They work hard and aim to provide a product that satisfies a need, but it does it properly, not for the highest profit. We have quite a lot of those in the UK, people like On-One, DMR, Orange... And Burgtec.
Burgtec went from a little company, producing a good pedal to becoming pretty big on the international stage. Nathan Rennie rides the Penthouse Flats, given his riding, which says something really. It has to be strong, and it has to work consistently. Now they also produce the Stanchion Mansion, to fit your bars securely to the forks, and also one of the lightest 150mm hubs on the market.

We quizzed Richard Burgoin, one half of Burgtec on topics from whisky to fish.. if you see his van at the races, go over and say hi, theres always produce to look at. Not to mention the new stuff coming shortly!

What plans have you got for Burgtec in 07?
This year were bringing out a new handlebar that is the widest bar in production today at 750mm or that's 29.5 inches in old money. Made from Scandium Aluminium the bar will be lightweight yet still super strong to cope with all mountain bike disciplines. Were introducing a couple of new colours for the hubs and pedals to keep our products at the fore front of design, fashion and function.
What's the difference with the new five.ten shoes? Just new colours or is there more to it?
Oh boy Five-Ten have been busy perfecting an already perfect shoe. The new Impact uppers are made from Action Leather that is harder wearing and more resilient to moisture than the old Impact shoe and the heel has been reconstructed to give a snugger feel.
Did you expect Burgtec to get to the stage of an international team? To get big enough to support that.
Burgtec is our dream that we turned into a reality, who knows where it might go. Were passionate about what we do, no bullshit, our stuff is the best that we can possibly make. Burgtec has branched out overseas this year to support riders such as Nathan Rennie - Syndicate, Brendan Fairclough - Honda, Thibaut Ruffin - Iron Horse and Oscar Saiz - Giant. We'll be at all European World Cup rounds to support those riders along with our UK team and any other riders that chose to ride the best pedals in the world.
Who would you like to thank?
Man I have to thank my beautiful wife for all her support. Everyone who has helped us, supported us and encouraged us to build burgtec into what it is today... Thanks
Thanks to Burg for doing this with us. Click over to Burgtec for more information! We'll keep you up to date with the new products as soon as they land in the country.
