The new AtomLab TrailPimp
29th June 2004 - Dud

Atomlab have recently revealed pics of their new hardtail, the TrailPimp. On first look it's easy to see this bike is built for trails and park riding. Atomlab have built their prototype as a 24inch single speed for the no-nonsense rider.

The frame has a 22 and a quarter inch top tube to allow for cross up's and bar spins without smacking your foot, which is nice. Also an adjustable rear end (16.5" to 15.5") for a tailored ride according to your height and preferences. These rear dropouts have built in chain tensioners and adjustable brake mounts, but the frame still has the V-Brake mounts if your old skool... Up front the frame has box style gussets to give it that little extra strength and ultimately protecting your investment when you come up a little short. Also rather than going for the slightly stronger BMX size BB Atomlab have opted for the Euro bracket shell with a built in ISCG (International Standard Chain guide Mount) giving it ultimate versatility.

The tubing is the unique feature on this frame however; it is triple butted air hardened cro-moly. (Which is strong...) This is then re-heat treated after welding to tighten up the grain structure and eliminate any weak spots which may have been created during the manufacturing process. If all this is a little confusing put basically it allows a 5lb frame to be even stronger than most 8-10lb frames. This particular bike shown in the pictures is set up with quite a few unreleased Atomlab components, if you want to know more about the frame or the kit see www.atomlab.com. Stay tuned for details of release dates.
