Time to get your cam's out and your ride on, cause next years infamous Ultimate Freeride Challenge has just opened itself up to your submissions. This years format changes a little so listen up...

The fourth annual Ultimate Freeride Challenge run by Race Face Performance Products, Giant Bicycles and Manitou has just issued a press release stating it is now open to video submissions. This isn't your average video compo either, the winner takes away a nice cheque for $25,000. The guys over at Race Face don't want riders worrying and shoving any old crap on the vids with some local ska punk track running in the background in a rush so they've set the deadline a pleasant seven months in the future, 1st February 2005. Race Face want TWO 1 minute vids of your best riding, aswell as a 30 second 'lifestyle' vid. This will not be released to the public until you get down to the finals and I'm told is an integral part of the voting system. In order to stand a chance not only have you got to ride some sick sh*t but the vid must be edited and presented in top quality.

It's not all bad though, those that do get through will get international exposure and be classified of one of Freeriding's elite. Take it by example, this is how we all know of Tyler Klassen, Matt Hunter and Wayne Goss.

It goes like this, the jury watch all the vids and narrow them down to the last 16, sort of like a Pop Idol without the crying and the fat ones. These videos then get put online and viewers vote for their favourites. This cuts it down to 4 semi finalists then to the 2 finalists. As the final voting is continuing the riders are plastared across the media and brought up in front of the industry. The winner then signs a contract with Race Face, Giant and Manitou (unless slightly insane) pukka's up for the $25,000 and rides away a happy man.

Even if you dont win the nice guys over at Race Face have compiled some rather nice prizes to all the UFC competitors who showed some riding worthy of recognition.

· Best Line - Manitou Dorado MRD X-Works Fork
· Best Air – 2005 Giant Freeride Frameset
· Most Creative Stunt - Race Face Diabolus Kit
· Best Urban Assault - Giant STP Frame
· Breakout Performance by a Grom (13 and under) – Manitou Sherman Breakout Plus Fork
· Worst Crash - Race Face Arm and Leg Armor, Shorts, Jersey and Gloves.

Get out and ride.
